Die Reise ist keine Ferienbroschüre

From the sermon “Ladies Lounge | SE05 | Emmanuelle Morier | No Other Name” of October 31

The Miracle Is on Its Way | Dan Nüesch

Sunday, April 5, 2026
Luke 24:1-9
Key Point

Easter is not just about celebrating Jesus' resurrection on Sunday, but about learning to hold onto faith during the difficult 'Saturday' seasons of life—those times of confusion, pain, and waiting between loss and restoration. God is still present and working during these in-between seasons, and through prayer and anchoring ourselves in Jesus, we can navigate these times without losing hope or becoming bitter.

This is an Easter Sunday service from ICF Zurich English community, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The service features extended worship time with songs focused on the cross, resurrection, and the worthiness of Jesus. Pastor Dan Nüesch delivers the main message titled 'The Miracle Is on Its Way' (or 'Between Chaos and Hope'), addressing the emotional and spiritual struggle of living in the 'Saturday' between Good Friday's pain and Resurrection Sunday's hope. Dan speaks vulnerably about dealing with confusion, unanswered prayers, and the difficulty of waiting for God's promises to manifest. He emphasizes the power of persistent prayer, anchoring one's soul in Jesus during difficult seasons, and the importance of community. The service includes communion, an offering for ICF Cambodia's work with displaced families and children, testimonies of people coming to faith through ICF's outreach ministries, and a call for people to join small groups and connect deeper with the church community.

Main Topics (5)

1. The Three Parts of Easter: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

  • • Good Friday represents pain and suffering when hope seems lost
  • • Saturday represents the season of confusion, desperation, and not knowing what to do next
  • • Resurrection Sunday represents breakthrough, miracles, and new beginnings
  • • We often want to jump from Friday to Sunday, but must learn to navigate Saturday well
  • • Saturday is when our convictions are tested and we're tempted to change course

2. Dealing with Saturday Seasons of Confusion

  • • Saturday can feel like job crisis, relationship breakdown, addiction struggles, or health issues
  • • People go through grief processes: denial, anger, bargaining/blaming, deep sorrow, and withdrawal
  • • The danger is becoming bitter during Saturday, which makes it difficult to receive miracles on Sunday
  • • In these seasons we question our faith, God's goodness, and whether promises are real
  • • We must learn to keep our hearts pure during times of confusion and waiting

3. Prayer as the Key Tool During Saturday

  • • Prayer is the one thing we can still do when we feel we've lost control
  • • We should pray desperately and honestly, not just nice prayers
  • • Jesus Himself often withdrew to lonely places to pray
  • • If something is big enough to worry about, it's big enough to pray about
  • • The Holy Spirit helps us pray when we don't know what to pray, even through wordless groans (speaking in tongues)

4. Three Pictures to Help in Prayer

  • • The carpet: We see the messy underside, but God sees the beautiful pattern on top
  • • The good father: Even imperfect earthly fathers give good gifts; how much more will our Heavenly Father give
  • • The anchor: Jesus is our anchor for the soul, firm and secure, interceding for us in the most holy place

5. Holding onto Jesus as Our Hope

  • • Jesus has already done more than we deserve by dying for our sins
  • • Our hope extends beyond this earth into eternal life
  • • Even if miracles don't happen on earth, Jesus paid the ultimate price for eternal salvation
  • • We must hold onto Jesus through Saturday to be there when Sunday comes
  • • God is working behind the scenes even when we can't see it

Biblical Foundations

Direct Quotes

Luke 24:1-9

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed with lightning stood beside them. In their fright, the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here. He is risen. Remember what he told you while he was still with you in Galilee. The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of the sinners. Be crucified and on the third day he will be raised again. Then they remembered his words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the eleven and to all the others.

Hebrews 6:19-20

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul firm and secure it enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain where our forerunner Jesus has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.

Romans 8:26

In the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness we do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Practical Application (5)

  • 1 Make prayer your primary tool in seasons of confusion: When you feel like you've lost control and don't know what to do, pray—even if it's desperate, messy prayer. If it's big enough to worry about, it's big enough to pray about.
  • 2 Use the Holy Spirit's gift of tongues when you don't know what to pray: When you have no words left and don't know what direction to pray, ask God for the gift of speaking in tongues so the Holy Spirit can intercede for you through wordless groans.
  • 3 Keep your anchor fixed on Jesus, not your circumstances: Focus on what Jesus has already done—conquering death and securing your eternal hope—rather than only on whether your earthly situation is changing. This anchor keeps your soul steady in the storm.
  • 4 Don't change your course or convictions during the desert season: In times of confusion, resist the temptation to abandon your values or wander in different directions. Stay faithful and trust that there is an end to the desert if you hold your course.
  • 5 Join a small group for community support: Don't walk through difficult seasons alone. Connect with other believers in a small group where you can share, pray together, learn from one another, and receive support through life's challenges.

Daily bites from the week of April 6

  1. Day 1 of 7 · April 6 The Resurrection Changes Everything

Today we celebrate the most transformative event in human history: Jesus Christ rose from the dead. The women who came to the tomb expecting to find a corpse instead encountered angels who asked, 'Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!' This wasn't just a momentary miracle. The resurrection proves that Jesus is who He claimed to be and that His sacrifice on the cross was accepted by the Father. Because of the resurrection, we have communion with God. Because He lives, death has been defeated and eternal life is ours. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to you today. Whatever you're facing—whatever seems impossible—remember that nothing is too difficult for the God who conquered death itself. The resurrection isn't just a historical event; it's the foundation of our faith and the source of our hope.

    Luke 24:1-9

    Prayer

Thank Jesus for conquering death and ask Him to help you live in the power of His resurrection today.

    Reflect

How does believing in the literal resurrection of Jesus change the way you face challenges today?

  2. Day 2 of 7 · April 7 Living in the Saturday

We often talk about Good Friday's pain and Resurrection Sunday's victory, but what about Saturday? That in-between day when the disciples sat in confusion, their hope shattered, not knowing what would come next. Saturday represents those seasons in our lives when we're waiting—when the miracle hasn't happened yet and we don't know what to do. Maybe you're in a Saturday season right now. You've prayed, you've believed, but nothing has changed. Your job hasn't come back. Your health hasn't improved. Your relationship is still broken. The pain of Friday is fresh, but Sunday's hope seems far away. Here's the truth: Saturday is not the end of your story. It's not the final chapter. God is working even when you can't see it. On that first Saturday, while the disciples mourned, Jesus was conquering death and preparing their eternal home. Your Saturday has purpose, even when you can't understand it.

    Luke 24:1

    Prayer

Ask God to help you trust Him in your season of waiting and confusion, believing He is working behind the scenes.

    Reflect

What Saturday season are you currently walking through, and how can you hold onto hope while you wait?

  3. Day 3 of 7 · April 8 The Power of Persistent Prayer

In seasons of confusion and pain, when you feel like you've lost control of everything, there's one thing you can always do: pray. Jesus Himself, even amid crowds seeking healing and teaching, 'often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.' Prayer isn't about finding the perfect words or having all the answers. It's about turning your focus to God when everything else feels chaotic. Mark Batterson said, 'If it's big enough to worry about, it's big enough to pray about.' When Charles Spurgeon prayed for orphans who needed a home, he didn't have the money or the solution—but God did. On your Saturday, when confusion reigns and hope feels distant, keep praying. Bring your anger, your questions, your desperation. God can handle your honest emotions. Prayer changes things—not always immediately, but always powerfully. It shifts your focus from your problems to the Problem-Solver.

    Luke 5:15-16

    Prayer

Pray honestly about your current struggle, even if you don't have the right words—just talk to God about what's on your heart.

    Reflect

What situation in your life feels too big to handle, but is exactly right-sized for prayer?

  4. Day 4 of 7 · April 9 Anchor Your Soul in Jesus

When you're in the desert of confusion, you're in danger of wandering, of changing course from your convictions, of questioning everything you once believed. Scripture gives us a powerful image for these times: 'We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.' Jesus is your anchor. He went through the curtain into the most holy place, tearing it apart so He could intercede for you. He paid the price you should have paid. Even if He never did another miracle, He has already done more than you deserve by conquering sin and death. When life feels like a storm tossing you left and right, let Jesus anchor your soul. Don't change your course when you can't see the way forward. Hold steady. The desert has an end, but you won't reach it if you keep walking in circles.

    Hebrews 6:19-20

    Prayer

Ask Jesus to be the anchor for your soul, keeping you steady when everything around you feels uncertain.

    Reflect

What convictions or beliefs are you tempted to abandon in your current season of difficulty?

  5. Day 5 of 7 · April 10 When You Don't Know What to Pray

There are moments when the pain is so deep, the confusion so overwhelming, that you don't even know what to pray anymore. You know you need God, but the words won't come. This is where the Holy Spirit meets you in your weakness. Romans 8:26 tells us: 'In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.' The Holy Spirit prays for you when you cannot pray for yourself. He helps you, sustains you, and gives you perspective when everything seems dark. This isn't about having eloquent prayers or perfect theology. It's about recognizing your need and letting the Spirit carry you. Whether through wordless groans, prayers in tongues, or simply sitting in God's presence, the Spirit intercedes. You are not alone in your weakness.

    Romans 8:26

    Prayer

Invite the Holy Spirit to help you pray, even when you don't have words, and to intercede on your behalf.

    Reflect

Have you experienced a time when you didn't know what to pray, and how might the Holy Spirit want to help you right now?

  6. Day 6 of 7 · April 11 Don't Walk Through Saturday Alone

The Saturday seasons of life—those confusing, painful in-between times—are not meant to be walked alone. God designed us for community, for brothers and sisters who will pray with us, encourage us, and help us hold on when our grip is weakening. The early church understood this. They didn't just gather on Sundays; they did life together daily. They shared meals, prayed together, supported one another through persecution and hardship. When one person's faith wavered, the community held them up. If you're in a difficult season right now, don't isolate. Find people who will walk with you, who will remind you of God's faithfulness when you forget, who will pray when you can't. Being in community means you give and receive. You learn from those ahead of you and encourage those behind you. The Saturday journey is hard enough—don't make it harder by going alone.

    Hebrews 10:24-25

    Prayer

Ask God to surround you with authentic community and give you courage to be vulnerable about your struggles.

    Reflect

Who in your life knows what you're currently struggling with, and who can pray with you through this season?

  7. Day 7 of 7 · April 12 Sunday Is Coming

No matter how long your Saturday lasts, no matter how dark the confusion or how deep the pain, this truth remains: Sunday is coming. The miracle is on its way. God has not forgotten you, and your story is not over. The women who came to the tomb heard the angels declare: 'He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee.' Then they remembered His words. Jesus had told them all along what would happen—they just had to hold on long enough to see it. You can only enjoy the harvest if you're still around when harvest time comes. Don't give up in your Saturday. Keep praying. Keep your soul anchored in Jesus. Stay connected to community. Because Sunday is coming—maybe not on your timeline, but on God's perfect schedule. And when it arrives, you'll see that He was working all along, even when you couldn't see it.

    Luke 24:6-8

    Prayer

Thank God that He is faithful to complete what He started in you, and ask Him for strength to keep believing until your breakthrough comes.

    Reflect

What would it look like for you to hold on to hope this week, trusting that your 'Sunday' is coming?
